And I know, I know. I'm late again with the Christmas update... But as I was told, Christmas spirit can last till 8 January xD

This time I decided to upload censored patreon version to public, so everyone can play with the puppet for the last time :D Sorry Alpha-patrons, hope you understand why, and I've got uncensored animations for you and soon you gonna taste new puppet :)

Ah, IMPORTANT NOTICE: most likely I gonna change the name of the game from v7.0 (and version would be 1.0). It's not the final decision. In any case I will update v6.X and tell you there that the game has changed it's name. The reason is simple - I don't want to be associated with Backrooms genre.

For those who wants to know something about the project - prepare to read :D Because actually this version should have used a big number. Though v7.0 is reserved for something more special, so we go with what we have xD

Life Sim

I decided to add some Life Sim elements into the game. I'm mostly talking about Energy. You need to sleep to get energy, you need to work to pay your bills and be able to sleep. Sometimes you can go shopping or train. So now you need to actually live in the game world. Sure the mechanics are in very early state. But still it makes the gameplay way better, from my point of view. Because now we have the gameplay cycle: work>train>sleep.

So the continuous tension from lack of money, with some mechanics where you need to spend money, makes the gameplay way more interesting. Getting good cards now is way more reasonable and important. Each card feels unique, not just some junk. But again - it's still early version, so balance and variability is still might be not that good in some parts of the game.

Animation

The most important update: I've spent $400 to buy new software - Spine Pro. I've never spent so much on software, but I'm more than happy. I've been learning animation and now am able to create Top-tier animations for the game!!! Though, I haven't added sound... yet. But it's still very cool. 6 animation sequences, each with 5-15 scenes in it. It's super cool.

Sure this time animations are not related to Main Character state, like body proportions and such. But it's not because it isn't possible, but just because I didn't have enough time xD However, it's still a bit complicated question, and that's why we need to talk about v7.0.

About coming v7.0

Actually, I needed Spine not only for animations. The actual reason is new Main Character. You see, the problem with the old puppet is that I need to make a lot of stupid work to adjust any new clothing pieces to all the body variations. Currently we have 4000 asset files just for the puppet! While in ideal world it should be just about 100-150 files (actually even less).

I've got sick of it, especially after I got the idea to make non-linear body transformations, which would increase this number by 5 times more. So I started to look for something that uses Meshes, and what can be integrated into the game. To better understand what I mean - just google Sims 4 character creation. All the clothes get stretched along with the body. It's very cool. So after some time spent on testing the older "free" version of Spine pro, trying to integrate it into the game, we realized that it's actually going to work! Yeah, it's not 3D, like in sims, but for 2d character it seemed to be the best choice. So I spent a lot of cash on it and started to build character. I rly wanted to release v7 before 2025. But somewhere at the mid-point I realized I need to rework it from scratch, because I made some bad choices at the very beginning, which would cause a lot of problems in the future. Though, I can present you what it's going to be.

So, as you can see it works just amazing. And I can control each part individually, do as many "stages" as I want. Everything is non-linear and looks good. But the most amazing part - all the clothes/items/cosmetics/etc. gonna be automatically adjusted to the body proportions. So no more thousands of assets.

We already tested it in the game, we tried changing clothes, tried transformations, and some more stuff. And well... it just works! :D

The second important thing - most likely new Main Character can be involved in most of the animated scenes! Including clothes, cosmetics, body transformations and anything else! It opens the horizons so much that you can't even imagine. Though, this particular feature needs to be tested some more, to be sure it works just like we want it.

So for now it's enough info about v7.0, so let's get to current version's short changelog.

v6.7.0 Changelog

  • Added characters with progression:
    • Rudy the Santa
    • Sylphy the Elf
  • added 6 animation sequences (5-15 scenes in each sequence). To unlock them simply win Rudy the Santa or Sylphy the Elf while they have as high power as possible.
  • Added one more character "Scientist", though without progression yet.
  • Energy Stat
    • In Battle Phase you spend Energy instead of being Transformed (10 energy per battle)
    • you can restore 60 energy by sleeping and in some small events
    • most of the events require energy
  • Job loop - Gift Packing
    • improve your productivity through different events (including Battle events)
    • Progress with Rudy and Sylphy
    • Spend your productivity to actually work and get cash
    • Some choices can add one of 2 Negative cards into your deck.
  • Training loop
    • get new action cards through Battle event
    • remove/delete/upgrade cards
    • improve "Focus" stat for efficient training.
  • Shopping loop
    • get positive and negative temporary bonus effects for buying items
    • reduce "compulsion" stat to reduce the prices through different events (including Battle events)
  • Transformation Loop: after you go to sleep spend your Experience points on different changes.
  • Motivational Loop: if you failed paying bills you gonna work a bit more in special place to pay off the debt.
  • Embarrassed Mechanics: if your Feminity and Identity stats don't match each other Embarassed tokens being shuffled into your deck at the beginning of the battle.
  • Change Some Clothes Task
    • if you successfully paid the bills you get a quest to change some clothing with another until next day
    • if you're missing some clothes - you would be asked to wear something until next day
  • Added a lot of new clothes and recolors
  • smaller adjustments and balancing
