EP:Backrooms v6.7.5 - Last XMas


Hey, it's Sifa! And I KNOW that it's already March. I regret doing "holiday" update already :| I promise it's the last Winter update, next one in 2 weeks will be about Fitness. And I explain more below :)

Actually, this update is meant to be just a bug fix (we found some more small bugs and one important). But then I thought to "end" this update by completing the balance. Basically - simplify things outside of combat. So now Training and Shopping are just Utility events, where you roll Cards/Clothes. So you can focus on battles and earning more $$$.

Why "end"? Well, because it's a "Holiday" update, I want it to be finished. So people can try it once again on holidays. And I hope if it's finished I won't decide to do it again xD Also I would use this version with unlocked NSFW content and cheat room as a Demo version of the game. So that was one more reason to make it a bit more balanced.

You know, I don't want just to do some game, I also worried about balance, progression and such. All of these parts mostly suck atm... but wait! It's getting better. Take combat system - I'd say it's way better from what we had at 6.0.0 version (not even talking about earlier versions). Thanks to continuous changes, tests, polishing. So "outside of combat" gameplay would also be put through some changes and tests in build v6.8. Especially Character Progresssion.

Moreover, I decided to add new Avatar in v6.8 (the one that I gonna fully implement in v7). Why? Well, we have to test how "dynamic avatar" works in animation. Because it's not only gonna be involved in animations, but will also be affected by transformations. Though, maybe not all the transformations yet, and just few sets of clothes. Still it would be a great step forward for us.

And the main idea of that is to improve Progression. I don't like how you just undress characters and unlock the "gallery of animations" through the game. I'm starting to hate how you add new cards in your deck. Nothing special about it, even when the cards are cool from "roleplay" side. So, I want to put animations in specific places, where they would be felt way more reasonable, and also move the storyline or at least relationship with certain character forward. Also simple "undressing" for characters would be enhanced, though maybe not in first version of build v6.8, because I'm not sure I can do that much so soon. But we'll try more progression lines for some characters for sure. And for the cards - I want them to be part of the progression. I think it's gonna work like that - you get 1st copy of some set of cards as a reward from progression with certain character. But if you want to get more cards - you need to roll them as usual. This way I hope to make the cards to be the part of the progression and story itself.

And that's enough for today, let's get through v6.7.5 Changelog, though nothing special here:

  • simplified Training
    • Focus is now simply a number of times you can roll cards and Focus also affects the price of cards now.
    • Energy isn't needed anymore, though you need to pay for Action cards now
    • Focus resets daily, you can improve the value via Room Upgrades
  • simplified Shopping
    • Basically the same changes as with Training
  • Added room upgrades for daily Focus and Compulsion gain
  • Removed raising daily bills. Now it's static, but room upgrades also improve your daily bills. So you can decide when you are redy to pay more.
  • Shin and Lina were removed, but don't worry, they come back with way better progression and animations in v6.8
  • balanced some stuff here and there
  • once again lowered the amount of Status cards you get during work. Now it's actually a quite low chance to get them.
  • some bug fixes
