EP:Backrooms v6.8.0 - "Better NPC"


Hey, it's Sifa! Long time no see :D It's been a month since last post.

So yeah, I underestimated the amount of problems popping up with the new avatar. And also my lead programmer left me for 10 days. Though now everything is cool, and we are moving forward. Though, not with the planned update. But with the update where I mostly focused on removing Christmas stuff and reworking everything that was tied to that. I don't know why I haven't done that earlier -.- Also, I adjusted some values, added some quality of life stuff, and added Body TF into free public version (without Clothes and Cosmetics). After all it's a TF game, so I decided to keep the main TF feature free for all. But that's not that interesting, let's better let's talk about new doll.

New Avatar

(work in progress news) So, we've changed avatar many times and I think the final result is good for my goals. It's simple to animate, it's simple to draw new stuff for it, and I can do many different animations with it. Also, new doll just looks cool. You can check it here:

And remember - WORK IN PROGRESS, and you can't find this avatar in current build yet. The main idea - is making it possible to build scenes and animations with the same appearance that you currently have. Clothes, body, hairstyle, etc. We successfully implemented this Avatar into the game. We tested most of the stuff already, so it works. We still have some issues with transformations, but they are small, like some transformations "reset" after some animations. Though we know why they popped up and how to handle them. Now just need to build the game situations with them. And also add some "lewd" scenes :D

Avatar Reactions during Combat

The most interesting part that avatar gonna react on cards that you play during combat. At first I gonna trigger scenes only from End-Turn cards (aka enemy cards). So if you choose "squat" card - you gonna squat. And so on. Remember that most of End-turn cards are somehow represent the interaction with a specific NPC. So this way I hope Battle-System gonna become way more interactive. And with some adjustments to "end-turn" cards that we're implementing - it should be very cool. Especially considering the fact that you actually can see your character, in clothes that you chose for them, doing what you decided to do.

About adjustments to End-turn cards (aka enemy cards). Well, I'm gonna expand them a lot. They gonna affect the game way stronger than before. But I can't say too much exact stuff here, because everything might be changed. Most likely, your progression (including feminization) gonna be affected by these cards a lot. And you will have some opportunities to change these cards or improve them.

So we are closer than ever xD Finally :D How many Avatar variants I scrapped. I even showed one, fully animated and set up for TF a while ago. Then I scrapped it too xD

So, anyway, I won't give any dates. I hate doing that, bcz sometimes things just don't go as planned xD Better let's read current changelog.

v6.8.0 Changelog

  • XMas stuff has been removed, everything reworked so it's not tied to christmas anymore
  • NPC progression got better. Now you can pick what you want to remove/change/wear on them. Also starting enemy cards gonna TF you slowly.
  • Added more clothes for NPCs
  • You can see chances to pull a card of each rarity during Training
  • Some balance changes, including battle balance and TF balance.
  • Also we added a temporary end goal: steal 2 golden lockets. One is on Lina, another on is on Shin. Though it isn't highlighted in the game yet xD
  • Body TF is now available in Public version
  • Added one more layer for the avatar, with outerwear. So you can hide outerwear while still wearing something in this slot.
  • Better hair animation
